    FIRST PHASE OF THE 606 OPENS

    A former rail line transformed into an elevated park and trail system, The 606 is an innovative solution to connecting neighborhoods while creating more urban green space. The first phase of The 606 is open, featuring the Bloomingdale Trail and four ground-level parks.

    NAVY PIER DEVELOPMENTS

    As part of the ongoing redevelopment of Navy Pier, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Navy Pier announced the acquisition of a new 196-foot Ferris Wheel to debut in 2016. The Ferris Wheel is just one component of the new infrastructure and design improvements. Navy Pier also will incorporate new restaurants in its food court, such as Giordano's, Big Bowl, Frankie's Pizza by the Slice, Big City Chicken and more.

    AC HOTEL CHICAGO BY MARRIOTT OPENS

    Formerly the Four Points Sheraton, the 226-room AC Hotel Chicago Downtown opened. Geared toward millennials and business travelers, the property touts a convenient location, contemporary hospitality and a sophisticated, European-inspired vibe.

    HAMPTON INN OPENS IN HISTORIC MOTOR CLUB BUILDING

    Located in the Art Deco Chicago Motor Club building, this 17-story, 143-room hotel maintained many of the building's historic elements while adding modern-day comfort amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, meeting space and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

    CONRAD CHICAGO HOTEL TO OPEN 2016

    Slated to open Spring 2016, this new hotel will overlook Michigan Avenue from its Erie Street location, while featuring 287 rooms (including 12 suites).
