CHICAGO LANDS GEORGE LUCAS MUSEUM

Award-winning film director George Lucas announced that Chicago would be home to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, a first-of-its-kind interactive museum housing a collection of artwork and movie memorabilia. It will be located on land currently occupied by parking lots between Soldier Field and McCormick Place, and will open in 2018.

CANADA'S ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION GOES INTO EFFECT

If you are a business or non-profit organization that uses commercial electronic messages (CEM) such as email newsletters and sms mobile texts, a new federal anti-spam law in Canada will have a significant impact on how you market to your audiences. The Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) - which goes into effect July 1, 2014 - concerns messages sent to any email addresses that belong to a Canadian, as well as all messages that are opened in Canada. CASL is applicable even if you are based in the United States or any other country outside of Canada.

Guidelines released by The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission specify what constitutes a commercial electronic message and outline regulations on 3 main components:

UNITED BEGINS SEASONAL SERVICE FROM CHICAGO TO EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

United Airlines started offering non-stop flights to Edinburgh, Scotland from Chicago O'Hare International for the summer. Flights operate daily between June 12 and September 1, and will then drop to four times a week from September 2 to October 5.

CHICAGO'S FIRST LADY CRUISES WELCOMES NEWEST VESSEL

Chicago's First Lady Cruises added a new vessel to its fleet, Chicago's Classic Lady. The 299-passenger yacht will be part of the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruises and will also serve as a special private party venue for corporate and social events. It will launch from the Riverside Gardens dock at the lower level and southeast corner of the Michigan Avenue Bridge.

USA Today listed Chicago's Randolph Street Market Festival as a top 10 flea market for finding vintage treasures. The market has been around for more than 10 years, and offers a wide spread of merchandise, including handmade crafts and vintage clothing and jewelry.
