Yes it may be winter in Chicago, but the fun doesn’t stop just because there’s a chill in the air! Snow Days Chicago gets kids and families out and about in celebration of the season. Bundle up and head over to the year-round playground that is Navy Pier for this FREE event January 25-27, 2013.
EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
Beat those cabin fever blues and have a blast with some outdoor fun for all ages. The weekend-long event is packed with events and activities, and of course, snow!
Don’t miss:
- Snow Sculpting Competition
The artistry will wow you. Come face to face with incredible ice sculptures as big as 10-feet tall. Watch blocks of snow transform as the highly-detailed works of art are carved throughout the weekend by 15 teams of professional sculptors from around the world, as well as 12 teams of local high school students. Check them out during the day, or illuminated at night as part of an enchanting light display. Vote for your favorite on January 26 from 11am-4pm then catch the awards ceremony at 6pm in the Family Pavilion Stage.
- Interactive Snowboarding Experience
New this year to Snow Days Chicago, kids can learn snowboarding basics from professionals as they navigate a fun snowboarding course throughout Gateway Park. This activity is free and will run all weekend long.
- Outdoor Games & Activities
Get hands-on with snow painting, stomp around on snow shoes and play for a chance to win great prizes at several fun outdoor games like Winter Hula Hoop, Hockey Buckets, Snowman Hat Toss and Snow Ball Spoon Race.
- Live Performances
If you need a little warm up during your visit to Snow Days, the entertainment continues indoors with great live performances on the Family Pavilion stage throughout the weekend.

Admission to Snow Days Chicago is free. Just head over to Navy Pier’s
Gateway Park, located right outside the Pier’s main entrance at 600 E. Grand Avenue.
Hours for Snow Days Chicago are:
- Friday, January 25 from 4pm to 8pm
- Saturday, January 26 from 11am to 8pm
- Sunday, January 27 from 11am to 6pm
