Great spaces to hear legendary Chicago blues and Jazz.

Back to Previous Page

Chicago’s lush nightlife is filled with cool jazz and soulful blues. Here are a few legendary lounges – all within walking distance of downtown hotels – we think your groups will like.

Buddy Guy’s Legends has been a Mecca for Chicago-style blues for more than 20 years.

You can arrange for “tickets” (actually the cover charge) online. Patrons of all ages are welcome before 8 p.m., including at free acoustic performances during lunchtime Monday through Friday and early Friday and Saturday evenings. After 8 is reserved for the over-21 set. Get additional Legends information here or by calling 312-427-1190.

At Blue Chicago, your groups can enjoy performances by local musicians and vocalists in a 1940s-style bar. This River North club welcomes patrons over 21 and with valid photo ID every night of the week and prides itself on its warm and friendly atmosphere. Click here or phone 312-661-0100 for more information.

Give your groups a classic nightclub experience at The Redhead Piano Bar. For more than 50 years, the Redhead has been a favorite place for patrons 21 and older to enjoy piano and vocal stylings and conversation in an upscale, comfortable atmosphere.

There’s no cover charge at The Redhead. Parties of five to 15 people are welcome, but because seating for large groups is limited, early arrival is recommended. For more information about this great nightspot, click here or call 312-640-1000.

Jazz buffs from around the world know about Andy’s Jazz Club. The nightly musical menu at this intimate spot, which originated in 1951, ranges from top local artists to “Spotlight Performer Series” events featuring in-demand international musicians. And Andy’s food menu – with a wide range of options that includes appetizers, lighter fare, pasta and pizza, and entrees – is equally tasty.

Guests younger than 21 are allowed admission when accompanied by a parent or guardian with dinner reservations prior to 7 p.m. After 7, Andy’s welcomes only patrons 21 and older. Every Sunday, the club is open to all ages all evening long, and dinner reservations are highly recommended as all under-21 guests must be seated in the dining room. Find more details to help you arrange for your group’s visit to Andy’s here. If you have additional questions, contact them by phone at 312-642-6805 or email at info@andysjazzclub.com.
