Hotel EMC2 – Opening May 2017

The Vibe: Located just steps from The Magnificent Mile in Streeterville, this new Autograph Collection hotel by Marriott harnesses the lively, creative energy of downtown Chicago. Impeccable mid-century modern design meets artistic flair with a metallic, mirrored entrance, a collection of commissioned artwork throughout the hotel and 195 luxurious guest rooms. The Vibe: Contemporary, sophisticated and geared toward the professional, this new 1,205-room hotel is directly connected to McCormick Place convention center and offers convenient amenities such as a business center, Grab ‘n Go marketplace, fitness center and more than 90,000 square feet of meeting space.

Ace Hotel – Opening Fall 2017

The Vibe: Housed in a former Italian-American cheese factory in the West Loop’s Fulton Market District, the new Ace Hotel will tout the brand’s signature laid-back style, while also drawing inspiration from Chicago’s historic ties to modernist design and architecture (think Frank Lloyd Wright and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe). Along with 159 rooms, amenities will include numerous event spaces, a rooftop bar, a restaurant helmed by a yet-to-be-announced local chef, and the Midwest’s first Stumptown Coffee Roasters.

Viceroy Hotel – Opening 2017

The Vibe: Appropriate for its luxurious Gold Coast location, this new 180-room hotel will have gilded and jewel-toned decor that evokes decadent 1920s style, hinting at the building’s early history as the former Cedar Hotel. Amenities will include a New American restaurant, 3,600 square feet of event space and a rooftop bar, pool and lounge with sweeping views of Lake Michigan.

Nobu Hotel Chicago – Opening 2017

The Vibe: Inspired by culinary trendsetter Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, this boutique hotel will boast sleek, modern style and Asian-inspired design elements within its 155 contemporary rooms, while the indoor-outdoor rooftop bar and lounge will harness the energy of the city with panoramic views of the Chicago skyline.

Two other hotels to watch are the stylish Fieldhouse Jones, which opened this past March and is sure to be a favorite of millennial travelers; and Cambria Hotel & Suites Chicago City Center, opening in September 2017 in the Loop above the Oriental Theatre (one of two new openings for the brand here).
