Chicago, IL. --- A group of six of Chicago's most popular south-side institutions is making it easier for Chicagoans and visitors alike to explore and experience the attractions of Museum Campus South ( museumcampussouth.org ). During the entire month of August, a free weekend shuttle service will "loop" through the beautiful and historic Mid-South Chicago, making stops at The DuSable Museum of African American History, Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Oriental Institute Museum, the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, and the Smart Museum of Art, all of which are in close proximity to one another. The Renaissance Society is also a member of Museum Campus South, though closed for installation during the month of August.

The free shuttle will run every weekend in August, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and from NOON until 4:00 PM on Sundays. The shuttle will begin its route at The DuSable Museum and run in a "loop" stopping at each institution during the designated hours, allowing riders to hop on and off at their leisure. Riders should never have to wait more than 30 minutes for the next shuttle. The shuttle is jointly organized by the participating institutions and sponsored by Choose Chicago. Participating partners include: South East Chicago Commission (SECC), the Arts Incubator, and the University of Chicago Office of Civic Engagement.

The shuttle is a pilot project for Museum Campus South, a long-standing concept that found renewed energy through the City of Chicago's most recent Cultural Plan. One of the plans goals was to encourage and maintain vibrant cultural districts citywide, including the development of a Museum Campus South.

"Thousands of people visit our individual institutions every month, and we want to help visitors make the connection between us. This shuttle will provide a fun, convenient and innovative new way for visitors to spend a day discovering the attractions located in and near the beautiful and historic Hyde Park neighborhood," said Carol L. Adams, Ph.D., President and CEO of the DuSable Museum.

By connecting institutions in the Hyde Park, Washington Park and Woodlawn neighborhoods, the Museum Campus South supports two other goals of the Chicago Cultural Plan - broadening Chicagoan's participation in culture and linking neighborhoods to each other and downtown. Visitors and tourists will also be able to take GO Airport Express from their downtown hotels to Museum Campus South (details are available at www.AirportExpress.com)
