This seminar provides members with insights into the complex world of marketing an American product to the outside world. The seminar focuses on issues such as:

  • Special problems of the foreign tourist
  • Differences in the social make-up of the European, Asian, and Latin American tourist
  • Handling foreign currencies
  • Issues of language
  • Issues of culture
  • Preparing one's community for the foreign visitor

***Members can also expect to learn how the CCTB partners up with the Illinois Bureau of Tourism and Chicago Office of Tourism to market the city to an international audience and more importantly, how you as a member can take advantage of these efforts for your business.***

Speaker Bio
Dr. Peter E. Tarlow is an expert specializing in tourism and economic development. Tarlow earned his Ph.D. in sociology from Texas A&M University. He also holds degrees in history, Spanish, Hebrew literatures and psychotherapy. Tarlow has appeared on National televised programs such as Dateline: NBC and CNBC. He organizes conferences around the world dealing with visitor safety and security issues and with the economic importance of tourism marketing. He works with numerous cities, states and foreign governments to improve their tourism products. He also lectures on current and future trends in the tourism industry, rural tourism economic development, the gaming industry, issues of crime and terrorism, the role of police departments in urban economic development and international trade.

Parking info:
There is a parking lot adjacent and south of the Museum. The daily rate is $15 and is CASH ONLY. There are also meters in front of the Museum, which are strictly enforced. The rate is $.25 per 1/2 hour.

The newly renovated Universe Theater is Adler's premiere spot for presentations, training sessions, awards ceremonies, or any kind of event you can think of. This multi-purpose venue has 140 auditorium seats, and flexible seating for an additional 120 people or 50 people seated at tables. There is an expansive stage area at the front with room for multiple presenters. The cinema size 22 X 12 foot screen is available for your video or PowerPoint, along with the theater's fantastic 5.1 surround sound audio system. An additional break-out room seating 15 to 20 people is also available.
