Chicago's stunning lakefront is setting the stage for an international competition that will make maritime history! And up for the taking is sailing's greatest prize.

Dating back to 1851, the America's Cup is the competition for the oldest trophy in international sport. The Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series will take place in Chicago from June 10-12, 2016 — join fans from around the world and get your seat in this thrilling outdoor stadium. Lake Michigan will become the first freshwater racecourse in the 165-year history of this event.

The Race Village is your home base throughout the historic weekend. THE VENUE

Navy Pier
The Windy City was made for this, and Navy Pier could not make a better stadium. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, and extending out into the lake, Navy Pier will be home to Race Village and the Grandstand. Fans and onlookers will experience a single-venue pit row experience, with a finish line seemingly at an arm’s length away.

THE PRIZE

America's Cup
Teams representing just four nations (the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland) have won the trophy in over 160 years of competition. The defending champion is ORACLE TEAM USA, who first won the America’s Cup in 2010, and successfully defended the title in 2013.

Now six teams, including ORACLE TEAM USA, have signed up to take on the challenge again. The 35th America’s Cup will be in June 2017 on the Great Sound of Bermuda. Racing in a series of preliminary events, collectively known as the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series, continue in 2016 with Chicago, as well as Oman, New York City, Portsmouth and Toulon.
